PAST EXHIBITS

Story of the Bible

October 2019 - February 2024
A collaboration between York University professors Dr. Tim McNeese, Dr. Frank Wheeler and Dr. Terry Seufferlein, this exhibit told the story of the Bible as it morphed from scroll to hand-copied codices to mass-produced print editions. The display included original leaves from a 1611 King James Bible and a 1656 Biblica Sacra Polyglot (an early multilingual Bible), Dead Sea Scrolls reproductions, and other ancient manuscripts. Some portions have been retained for an expanded permanent Bible display.

aNCIENT VESSELS

September 2016 - March 2017
On loan to the museum from the collection of York's own Dr. Frank Wheeler are 37 complete pottery pieces dating from the Bronze Age (3100 B.C.—1200 B.C.) and Iron Age (1200 B.C.—586 B.C.).  See terra cotta storage jars, pitchers, bowls, plates and juglets all made by hand thousands of years ago which have survived to today.

LUTHER AND THE REFORMATION

September 2017 - December 2017
Five hundred years after Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg and started the conversation that would lead to the Reformation Movement, York University hosted an exhibit and lecture series about the polarizing figure. View the recap and videos from the lecture event here.
